Organizers of Wide Awake Festival have unveiled the first act and headliner for the 2024 edition, Australian prog-rock legends King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
The renowned band will grace the stage on May 25, promising to bring their signature style and energy to the eager festival crowd.
Fresh off the announcement of their 25th studio album, The Silver Cord, the prolific rockers will no doubt deliver a performance that cements their status as one of our time’s most exciting live acts.
Keith Miller, Co-Founder and Booker of Wide Awake expressed his excitement, stating, “We’re so delighted to finally nail down King Gizz! It’ll be 10 years since I first saw them in the Shacklewell when they hit the main stage. We’ve tried to bring them over every year, and they were our most requested acts from our fans survey. I caught them up at Manchester Psych Fest in September, and it was unreal. You will not be disappointed!”
Matching the enthusiasm, King Gizzard frontman Stuart McKenzie said, “Fkn pumped to be back in London Town for all you beautiful people.”
Wide Awake is renowned as an independent festival that caters to music fans seeking something different. The festival aims to showcase some of the best up-and-coming talent across various genres, including leftfield indie, post-punk, electronica, techno, and more, all in a lineup that stands out in the heart of London.
Moreover, Wide Awake maintains a balanced gender split within its lineups. In 2023, the festival also made significant strides towards sustainability by introducing a ‘Positive Policy,’ aimed at reshaping the environmental impact of live music events.
With a core ethos rooted in social, cultural, and environmental awareness, Wide Awake is not just a party for music lovers seeking top-tier live acts; it’s a platform for change-makers who want to foster a better world while enjoying incredible music.
