Bloc Party has just unveiled their grandest show to date, set to take place at Crystal Palace Park in London on Sunday, Jul. 7, 2024.
The monumental event will commemorate 20 years since the release of their first proper single, promising fans an unforgettable experience with the iconic Silent Alarm album played in its entirety, along with an electrifying array of their greatest hits.
As part of the milestone celebration, Bloc Party will also re-release a vast selection of rare songs, deep cuts, and fan favorites to streaming services in 2024. This move ensures that the band’s catalog will be readily available to fans for the first time.
Kele Okereke, the dynamic frontman of Bloc Party, expressed his excitement about the upcoming event, saying, “We’ve been having so much fun playing shows over the past year, so it makes sense to do something special for old and new fans, celebrating twenty years of Bloc Party. We heard from a lot of people that they couldn’t get tickets for the Silent Alarm gigs, so a one-off summer party playing that and the bangers feels like the right thing to do.”
Bloc Party, firmly embedded in the global indie scene, recently concluded a co-headline tour with Interpol in Australia and supported Paramore, solidifying their status as international hitmakers. From their early hooky post-punk days to ambitious genre-mashing experiments, Bloc Party’s artistic restlessness has been a driving force since the early 2000s.
The Hives will join Bloc Party in this monumental celebration, delivering a UK-exclusive performance. The Hives, known for their explosive live shows, have sold out stadiums and shared stages with legends from AC/DC to The Rolling Stones. Their latest record, The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons, marks a true renaissance for the beloved indie outfit.
Additional acts gracing the stage on this historic day include indie dance trio Friendly Fires, Merseyside alt-rock four-piece The Mysterines, fresh from touring with Arctic Monkeys, and bold breakthrough artist Connie Constance.
Crystal Palace Park, London’s original outdoor concert venue, has hosted legendary acts such as The Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, and Pink Floyd. In 2023, the park welcomed an array of exciting talent, including Iggy Pop, Blondie, The Lumineers, Two Door Cinema Club, and The Wombats, as part of Community Festival Presents.
Tickets for this historic Crystal Palace Park performance are set to go on general sale at 10:00 AM (GMT) on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, exclusively through Ticketmaster.
