Poppy unveils music video for “Flicker”

In a spellbinding display of artistic prowess, the multifaceted Poppy has dropped the music video for her track “Flicker,” taken from her latest album, Zig, released in October via Sumerian Records.

Directed by Le3ay Studio, the visually captivating video serves as another intriguing chapter in the narrative of the Zig album. Opening with a scene reminiscent of the album cover, Poppy is seen crawling toward the light in a dimly lit hallway with a sword strapped to her back. The rest of the video features kaleidoscopic choreography interspersed with shots of Poppy standing in the same haunting hallway, fervently pleading, “God, please be merciful.”

Poppy – “Flicker”

Poppy, known for her provocative performance art and surrealistic chaos, first made waves in the creative world with dance-inspired video vignettes. Her evolution as a unique, multi-talented performer has seen her delve deep into visual exploration and sonic experimentation, creating something entirely unprecedented.

After signing with Sumerian Records, Poppy’s 2020 album, I Disagree, garnered acclaim, surpassing 100 million streams and earning her a historic GRAMMY nomination for Best Metal Performance with the track ‘BLOODMONEY’—the first solo female artist to be nominated in this category.

The recent release, Zig, is a testament to Poppy’s journey as an artist, maturing from her late teens into her late 20s with a clear sense of identity and purpose. It combines immersive electronic elements with candy-coated vocals; Zig’s tracks teeter on the edge, with Poppy seamlessly blending screamed lyrics to complement the songs’ pointed pop edges.

Since its launch, Zig has amassed over 12 million streams globally, propelling Poppy to 663 million streams worldwide. The album secured the #8 spot on Billboard’s Current Alternative Albums Charts and #9 on Billboard’s Current Rock Albums Charts.

Following the conclusion of the GODLESS/GODDESS tour with PVRIS, Poppy delivered an electrifying performance at Mexico City’s Hell and Heaven Festival. Anticipation for 2024 is building, as Poppy is set to embark on the Concrete Forever Tour supporting Bad Omens in Europe in January, followed by her headlining Zig Tour across Europe in February. March will see Poppy supporting Avenged Sevenfold on their North American run, followed by an opening slot for Thirty Seconds To Mars on their North American tour.
