Punk four-piece Audionasties defied the fear of a sophomore slump with their second-ever show in London on Apr. 20, 2024, as part of InPop Presents at O2 Academy2 Islington. Their performance was a perfect blend of frenzy and refinement, a unique characteristic that set them apart.

The Bedfordshire natives have played regularly in their home county. Still, capital city audiences are a whole other ballpark—a fact that didn’t seem to phase them when they launched into “Girls Who Tell Guys Who Tell Lies,” faced with a crowd that seemed made up primarily of the group’s biggest fans. This hardly came as a surprise, as they sold the second most tickets of any band billed that evening.

The anticipation for Audionasties’ upcoming EP, “The Boy-Whore Diaries pt.2,” was palpable throughout the venue, with the entire setlist consisting of unreleased tracks from this highly anticipated record. Lead vocalist Sam McKeon commanded the stage with magnetic charisma, effortlessly captivating the audience from start to finish. However, McKeon’s prowess was complemented by the undeniable talent of his bandmates—drummer Cory Houghton, guitarist Stefan Head, and their phenomenal bassist who we will not name for reasons we cannot disclose—who collectively radiated an unmistakable aura of star power.

They charged through “Undercover Mother,” “Drown Me,” and more with furious intensity before finishing on “Kafkaesque,” the track for which the band released its first-ever music video at the end of last year. The audience ate up every minute and seemed almost disappointed when the band exited the stage.

Audionasties are getting bigger and better with every performance, and their rise is the most captivating to watch, especially noting that it couldn’t be happening to a more deserving band.
