Hopeless Records, the pioneering independent record label, is gearing up to celebrate its 30 year anniversary.

Established in 1993, the label has been an influential force in the music industry, shaping the soundscape of alternative music over the last three decades.

The celebration will commence with an exclusive event at the Valley Relics Museum in Los Angeles on Dec. 8, 2023. This invite-only affair will unveil a captivating exhibit featuring memorabilia, artwork, and milestones from Hopeless Records’ rich history. The exhibition, open to the public from Dec. 9, will embark on a nationwide tour, stopping at prestigious venues such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH, and The Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas, NV.

Louis Posen, the founder of Hopeless Records, reflects on the journey, stating, “Celebrating 30 years is a celebration of all those who have believed in us, put their trust in us, and have made it possible for us to survive and thrive. Thank you for an amazing first 30 years! We can’t wait to continue learning, growing, and getting better in our next 30!”

The festivities will extend into 2024 with the release of a photobook and documentary chronicling the label’s history, limited anniversary vinyl re-releases, and a compilation album featuring current artists covering Hopeless Records classics.

Ian Harrison, general manager of Hopeless Records, emphasizes the uniqueness of the exhibit: “In creating this exhibit, we dug through our archives and worked with our artists to build a unique behind-the-scenes look at the first 30 years of Hopeless.”

Hopeless Records, initially founded to release a seven-inch by the band Guttermouth, quickly evolved to embrace diverse genres. From pop punk and ska to alternative music, the label has been a home for legacy acts and emerging artists.

Alan Person, CFO of Hopeless Records, shares his story: “A story of really good luck… 25 years later, and I still feel lucky to be a part of this company.”

The label’s success stories include Avenged Sevenfold and All Time Low, both of which joined early in their careers and achieved multiple Gold and Platinum records. Sub City, the non-profit arm of Hopeless, has raised over 3 million dollars for various organizations since 1999.

Erin Choi, VP of Marketing, emphasizes the label’s commitment to artists: “Everything we do at Hopeless starts with the artist and their unique vision, message, and story.”

Hopeless Records has survived and thrived in an ever-evolving music landscape, contributing to developing young talent and fostering diversity within the industry.

EVP of Business Development and A&R Eric Tobin anticipates the future: “We hope to continue growing these ideas into a new scene for future fans.”

As Hopeless Records embarks on its 30th-anniversary celebration, the label remains a powerhouse, continuing to shape the future of alternative music.
